See Europe by Rail

I know Europe might not be the most favoured place to visit this summer ( due to the exchange rate ) but it will be so lovely to go on a holiday to Europe. My must do trip to Europe one day will be by exploring the continent by train. Imagine travelling through rolling meadows, lush green mountains with snow laden ice cap and beautiful, historic architecture.

Soak up culture this summer and combine a fantastic city break with a little sun and relaxation.Some great cities to visit, full of local culture and beautiful beaches, include:

Valencia - A mix of historic and modern architecture, beautiful gardens, fascinating museums and
golden sandy beaches. Stroll along the promenade, or head to the water and have a go at scuba

Beaulieu-Sur-Mer - A beautiful, tranquil and scenic town that is the perfect place to relax and
recharge your batteries. Both Nice and Monaco are just a short train ride away, where you can visit
an array of museums and galleries, or head to the famous Monte Carlo Casino. Prices from £104 return.

De Panne - Well known for its nature reserves and having the widest beach on the Flemish Coast
without a single breakwater. Folklore exhibitions, jazz and band concerts, and firework displays are
all readily found in this Belgian retreat. Prices from £59 return.

Desenzano del Garda - Set around beautiful Lake Garda, this pretty lakeside town offers an
impressive three beaches to stroll along - or if you prefer, visit the beautiful 10th century castle
on the hill, take a day trip to the city of Verona famed for its setting of Romeo and Juliet, or
enjoy an evening meal al fresco. Prices from £126 return.


Events in Europe

There are some fantastic events coming up throughout the summer months in Europe, below is a selection to wet your appetite:

14th July - Bastille Day, France. French national holiday commemorating the Storming of the Bastille.

7-9th August - International Berlin Beer Festival, Berlin. The streets are transformed with over a mile of stalls offering beer from brewers all across Germany.

4-26th July - Tour de France, France. Made up of 21 stages and covering a total distance of 3,500 kilometres.

16-19th July - Italia Wave Love Festival, Italy. Around 120 music, cinema, theatre and sports events take place over one weekend. Prices from £105 return.

24-26th July - Hungarian Grand Prix, Budapest.

8-12th July -European Balloon Festival, Barcelona. Hot air balloons from around the world fill the skies over Igualada.
